Plans
Today we looked at plan drawings which are what you see if you cut horizontally through a structures top and looked down – or in this case a building’s roof. They are used to communicate a design idea. For our plans we cut just above the level of the window. Certain graphical symbols are used to describe the drawn object. I learnt that the thicker the line the more denser or permanent the material is and that movement is documented by a dashed line. Plans are often drawn to scale using a scale ruler which allow them to have a specific ratio relative to the actual size of the object.
The first task was to sketch a scaled view of our table. In my plan I included the table, chairs and objects such as the pens and paper that were on my table.
The second task was to replicate an already planned room but with the correct scale. We were given certain dimensions.
Our self directed work was to draw a plan of a room, I chose my flat’s kitchen.
