Plans into Practice – Surveying
Today we put our knowledge of measuring, scaling and planning into practice with Colin. We went to the Cantor building and sketched the stairs (which you see right in front of you as you walk in) from different angles. Once I had done this, two others and I began measuring (using a tape measure) all features. This included the steps width, length, height and how many there were along with the height the stairs escalated at and so forth. After we completed this we went back to the studio and drew up a plan using the drawing board. I learnt technical names that stairs have, such as the rise. I also learnt how to use the drawing board which enabled a lot more accurate work as the lines are always straight or at the correct angle.
